Abstract

This paper aims to analyze and describe the problems of cooperatives and sustainable strategic management. This research is a literature study, namely conducting a critical analysis of cooperative problems and strategic management. The results of the study concluded that cooperatives as the mainstay of the national economy are still a discourse, in fact cooperatives are faced with various problems of weak management and professionalism of administrators, low participation and quality of human resources, limited and non-innovative capital, weak supervision, lack of innovation and technological adaptation. Sustainable strategic management planning and implementation of strategies that pay attention to the concept of economic, social, and environmental sustainability include digital transformation, improving the quality of human resources, strengthening governance and accountability, collaboration and strategic partnerships and the application of green cooperative principles. The implications of the research are that by understanding cooperative problems, and sustainable strategic management becomes the basis for thinking to develop cooperatives not only as capital associations but also as socio-economic strengths for mutual benefit
