Abstract

This research was motivated by teachers' difficulties in implementing the independent curriculum in elementary schools. The aim of this research is to explain the difficulties faced by teachers in implementing the independent curriculum in elementary schools, especially in grades I and IV. This type of research is qualitative descriptive research. The subjects in this research were grade I and IV elementary school teachers. The data collection techniques used were interviews, observation and documentation. The data analysis technique uses the Miles and Hubermen model which consists of three stages, namely data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing. The data validity technique used in this research is triangulation. The results of the research show that there are several difficulties for teachers in implementing the independent curriculum, firstly, at the planning stage, at this stage the teacher does not include the learning models and media used during learning, secondly, at the implementation stage the teacher does not use learning media that is appropriate to the theme and learning material at that time, thirdly, the evaluation of the independent curriculum carried out by the teacher has not run as it should because the teacher is still studying the evaluation/assessment stage of the independent curriculum.
